In the early 1990’s, rising out of the neon concrete slab of Tokyo could be heard the acoustical assault that is Melt-Banana. Their new album “Fetch” continues the tradition; and the masses wept, some for joy, others for their impending doom.
So I’m once again riding the Sonic Train. I usually go about 6 to 8 months; I’ll hear a Sonic Youth song here or there and think “mmmm, so good.” But that’s it. Then out of nowhere, the urge overtakes me and it’s all I’ll listen to for a week or two straight. I’m in it. Just picked up some vinyl this week- I’ll post photos as they arrive. A nice Sonic Youth/Jay Reatard split 7″; Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star; Sister; Evol; and Dirty (which contains the song of the show).
Another for the Best of 2012, Thee Oh Sees album Putrifiers II kicks butt and engages your chakras with rhythmic mantras that keep the inner fire burning. Light some incense and candles then prepare to be rocked.

Naomi Punk – Burned Body
Naomi Punk’s album “The Feeling” is being re-released this November on their new label, after a limited press of 300 or so albums back in April of this year, it is a standout punk album and not much of a surprise that the band hails from Olympia, WA- must be something in the trees up there. . .
Metz is a Canadian band, their self-titled debut album, METZ, hits the shelves on October 9th. Loud, scuzzy guitars, driving drums and vicious energy bring mayhem into your vanilla existence. Free upload of the song here.
Ty Segall is on a tear, he’ll be playing at the Treasure Island Music Festival smack dab in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, on October 14th as one of his last remaining shows of a jam packed year. Last year he released 2 albums, but he had plenty more to give in 2012. His solo album, Twins, will be his third album this year. Last month, the Ty Segall Band, released Slaughterhouse, and earlier this year Ty Segall toured with White Fence supporting their April release of Family Purfume. He’s a busy boy and I hope he’s got something left for 2013, because I didn’t catch him once this year and I’d really like to see him play. . .
