Geyser is taking pre-orders for their debut 12″ EP on Radiclaw Records, get in there and grab one- all 4 tracks are good grungy garage post-punk tunes.

Long time proto-punk new wavey LA rock and rollers The Intelligence had a strong showing in 2012 with their album “Everybody’s Got It Easy But Me”. Their long discography is definitely worth a spin, put “Fake Surfers” up high on that list.
Happy Jawbone Family Band is as quirky as their name implies, and if I’ve learned anything about creative people, I’ve learned that they absolutely adore the moniker “quirky”. HJFB is not quirky, they are good. It is music that evokes and emotes. It puts me in a place distinctly within my mind and soul, a familiar place, a place that is comfortable, that is me- quirky. what.
Seth Olinsky from Akron/Family has a side project called Cy Dune, and it’s a bit heavier and fuzzier. Definitely worth keeping an ear open for more stuff from Cy Dune and Akron/Family.
Another album to add to the best of 2012, Playin’ In Time With the Deadbeat is loaded with twangy guitar, pounding rhythm, and howling vocals. Australian band, Slug Guts, created a mood with this album; a bit dark but pleasantly warm.
Marnie Stern’s s/t album was right at the top of my best of 2011, so I’m excited to see she’s got another album scheduled to be released in March of 2013, and for now we’ll listen to the first release off that album “Year of the Glad”
From Montreal, the Suuns are set to release a full length album in March of 2013. “Edie’s Dream” is a dreamy tune, and the first single released for the next album. (i think)
