San Diego pop punk band Plateaus released their debut LP in the fall of 2012 and it is a rollicking good time top to bottom. The single Do It For You b/w Jasmine was released in May and a video for the song came out in the summer.

Another for the Best of 2012, Thee Oh Sees album Putrifiers II kicks butt and engages your chakras with rhythmic mantras that keep the inner fire burning. Light some incense and candles then prepare to be rocked.

With the release of 2 phenomenal EP’s this year, The Janitors are high on my “when’s your next release?” list. Their fuzzy, loud psych drone noise fits right into the soundtrack of my life.

Another album to add to the best of 2012, Playin’ In Time With the Deadbeat is loaded with twangy guitar, pounding rhythm, and howling vocals. Australian band, Slug Guts, created a mood with this album; a bit dark but pleasantly warm.
Detroit punks Tyvek released a new album early in November and it’s moving up my list of best of 2012. The straight up lo-fi fuzzy punk of On Triple Beams is only slightly more refined and evolved than their previous album Nothing Fits. Their label In The Red Records is a good place to start a record collection.
New Jersey punks Titus Andronicus released their third album Local Business in October of this year. The music is good, the kids are punks, the first track “Ecce Homo” is the way an album ought to begin. Have a listen, won’t you?
LA surf-punks FIDLAR are releasing their s/t album early next year. Check out their song/video “Cheap Beer” Look for them touring the east and west coasts of the USA in November and Europe in December.
Metz is a Canadian band, their self-titled debut album, METZ, hits the shelves on October 9th. Loud, scuzzy guitars, driving drums and vicious energy bring mayhem into your vanilla existence. Free upload of the song here.
The return of 1song 1show! I’ve come back to hopefully do a weekly show, which will truly be 1 song in 1 show. I’ll play a song, hopefully give you a slice or two of some pertinent information about the band and their current whereabouts/whatabouts; then we’ll move onto the next one. I have another hour long podcast “Feed Your Headcast“, go check it out if you like.
